Beyond a love for music, she also inculcated in them moral values, leadership and responsibility. Not only helping the band students to develop a stronger sense of belonging to the band, she also recognised the challenges they faced in balancing their involvement with their schoolwork, and would always insist that they leave school once band practice was over, so they could rest sufficiently and study well.

After her retirement in 1992, the band alumni sought to emulate her teaching by taking over the instructorship and training of the band, thus establishing a new and unique tradition of their own, as TK is the only school band that is solely trained by its own alumni.

As many band alumni and present students continue their close relationship with their beloved teacher, her legacy lives on not just through the band’s music and movements, but even in the strong bond that develops among the different generations of band alumni.
